THE CREATOR OF THE SIMS RAISED $6 MILLION TO DEVELOP CRYPTO GAMES

Last update:

Gamedev studio Gallium Studios closed the round for $6 million, the venture capital company became the only investor Griffin Gaming Partners. Gallium Studios was founded by industry veterans Will Wright and Lauren Elliott in 2015 in California. Will Wright is the author of the acclaimed video games Sim City and The Sims for Maxis. Wright left Maxis in 2009 after 20 years with the company. Lauren Elliott, on the other hand, is known for creating the Where in the World Carmen Sandiego video game, which has since been adapted into a Netflix show.

The first project of the studio on the blockchain is VoxVerse, an NFT metaverse for VOX Collectibles that Wright is developing for GalaGames, well, the main game of the game dev studio is the Proxi mobile memory simulator. Proxi was first announced in 2018. This is Wright's first game in over a decade since the release of Spore in 2008 and on the Blockchain. Although AI plays an important role in Proxi, despite the fact that Wright is not very fond of NFTs, Proxi will still be an NFT game, this will give more opportunities for players. Still, the mechanics of play-to-earn would be brought in, it would be wonderful, but nothing is known about this yet. Gallium Studios conducted a pre-sale of Proxi tokens in September last year together with the company High, which raised $725 million last November. Griffin Gaming Partners also invested in Strong.

The new investment will help the studio expand its team, establish partnerships and provide more modeling opportunities. In addition to Wright and Elliott, the studio has experienced employees who previously worked in Electronic Arts, Blizzard Entertainment и Pixar.
