REVIEW AT A FAR AWAY REALM (AFAR) | COMMUNITY-BASED

Last update:

Since I have a psychological trauma caused by the unrestrained "collecting" of computer vinyl figures, one way or another, I have to follow the development and release of projects related to this ungrateful occupation. This list includes such masterpieces as:

1. Blank block party Development of Mythical Games: a game about figurines that you control to compete in various game modes (shootout, race and collect "points"). In addition, there is a mode for creating your own maps and a "social hub" - a place where players can communicate outside of competitive modes and take part in various events. Behind him are large funds that have invested $250M. Based on a private fork of EOS with a bridge to the ethernet.

2. Vy worlds authorship Knock Knock Games: almost complete copy from Blankos, but works in the browser (no separate client), deployed to ImmutableX, and during the game and for creating new maps, players can earn project tokens. It is in the early alpha stage and therefore looks a bit sparse (and perhaps it will continue to look like this, you won’t run away much in the browser).

3. impostors: "a social death game", essentially a copy of Among Us with jelly-like NFT toads. In the stage of a very raw beta, which, however, did not prevent the developers from selling 10k+ toads at a fabulous price (even at the moment, the floor on the OS is kept at 0,4 eth).

impostors

Swagga (formerly Blocwars): After the acquisition of Swagga Studio by Blocwars, it is a "fashion metaverse" (something like Liqnft), in which only stacking Onimaru figures on the BSC network were brought from the gameplay.

To date, this list is added AFARMore from LavaLabs.

LavaLabs

Founded in 2019, a small sharazhkin office originally from Britain.

Kaya Tilev - Founder and CEO. Previously worked either in financial institutions or in positions related to financial management, which is not surprising after graduating from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. In his first education, he has a master's degree in molecular biology.

Ed Morley – CTO (technical director) with experience in Clockwork Games, Simtex Ltd, Runecraft, EA, Games Warehouse, Lockwood Publishing (developer of the mobile MMO Avakin Life) and Unabated Games, where he was directly involved in the development of game projects for various platforms.

Chris Gripton is a senior producer who has worked at Reflections (as a QA engineer), Thumbstar Games and Lockwood Publishing.

Thomas Carver-Smith responsible for test management and monetization, originally from Lockwood Publishing and Games Warehouse (as a developer).

A number of other "alumni" of Lockwood Publishing: John Wesgate (Art Director), Adam Penrose (painter), Robin Beddall (painter), Alex H (lead cloud engineer), as well as several developers with no experience in implementing large projects.

Despite a rather meager track record, in March 2022 the team raised $10kk in the Series A round, which was led by the Swiss Dialectic and brought with them Animoca (where without them), Dapper Labs, Razer (which makes mice), Merit Circle, Dragonfly, DeFinance and a number of other investment companies and angels with a total of 12 units.

What do we end up with? The team is not the titans of the industry, but not Asian nonames with pictures instead of userpics, there is no experience in developing and attracting money from outside. Funds per unit moved in a little bit, more like they moved in a wide front and Lava Labs just fell under this distribution. Separately, it is worth noting that the Genesis-nft sold in the spring for 30 eth (skin for a 1/1 game figure) lies at the DeFinance address.

Gameplay

We sorted out the team, the funds too. What are we supposed to play? The developers tried to cross a hedgehog with a snake. On the one hand, it is "a game about figurines, which you need to control in various game modes (shootout, race, and collect" points ")". Matches consist of 4 rounds with an increase in the number of points for completing each next (say hello to the new mode in Blankos). After completing enough competitive games, the figure grows "reputation" (we can assume something like a rating table), which is necessary to unlock unique accessories. Additionally, playing in competitive mode allows you to gain experience points (season pass points).

You can control one of 6 types of figurines (currently 3 have been demonstrated to the community), and dress them in various NFT skins. It is supposed to have a “social hub” where you can flex between skating rinks.

On the other hand, in addition to competitions, the developers decided to add in-game mining here. On NFT-lands (either your own or provided by the developers) it is supposed to deploy "bases" for the extraction of "ore" and "minerals". These resources are needed to further develop the infrastructure needed not only to extract and process minerals, but also to protect your “base”. NFT pets, which are announced for development, also belong to the elements of the mining infrastructure. You will have to do this thankless task to get experience points (season pass points), as well as to sell excess resources to less skilled miners (or those who are not going to dig at all).

In order to sell the resources mined on the lands (“ore” and “crystals”), it is necessary to build and further maintain a spaceship that will transport honestly accumulated treasures to the trading hub. It is assumed that the ship will also be presented as an NFT. Shopping hub, suddenly, too.

For completing stages of the season pass, “eggs”, a local analogue of loot boxes, containing experience points (season pass points), skins for figures and structures, as well as in-game tokens, will be issued as a reward.

Tokens are needed here to conduct community votes, buy and sell items in the trade hub, pay for the season pass, pay for updates (???). In addition, they can be staked. The total number of tokens is 1kkk, of which:

– 20% off in-game rewards (with 20% instant unlock and 3 year laner unlock)

– 25% to the Lava Labs fund (with a one-year cliff and a 5-year linear unlock)

– 10,5% to the “ecosystem” (with 10% instant unlock and linear unlock for 3 years)

– 39,5% to investors and the team (with 20% instant unlock and linear unlock for 3 years)

– 5% for public (with instant unlock).

Deadlines

A public sale of tokens, a sale of lands (in the amount of 2022k) and, accordingly, the launch of mining are planned for September-October 10 (without trading hubs and competitive modes, which can be launched at the end of Q4).

Hack and predictor Aviator

It seems that in the design process they mixed everything that came to hand into a heap. "Let's make our own Fall Guys! And some fools are buying pictures with lands, let's add lands! Well, what are the lands without tokens?! We will also introduce tokens! Why they are needed, then we will come up with, the main thing is not to deprive yourself! And to tie everything together, let's add spaceships! Clear topic! And this is what comes out, if you break it down point by point

Pros:

- the team is not a noname (most of it, anyway)

– there are investment funds on board

Cons:

– the team does not have significant experience in implementing large-scale projects

– funds are not top, plus a strange move with a genesis skin

– undeveloped game mechanics (for example, nowhere is it indicated who will have to defend the lands from, nothing is said about the mechanics of attacks, why transport resources to a social hub and why there are tokens at all)

- from the finished product there is only a half-minute video (it is not clear what it refers to)

- the first stage of the launch, revealing the mechanics of mining, includes the sale of lands and tokens, from which there are risks that things will not go further than cash grab.
