We have all been familiar with such a seemingly strange genre as fantasy sports for a long time, and there is already an excellent example of a sports game with elements of fantasy sports on the blockchain - MLB Champions. Now fantasy sports has gotten to basketball!
Canadian developers Dapper labs, the creators of CryptoKitties and Cheeze Wizards do not stand still and announced that they are working with the NBA and NBPA to create NBA Top Shot - mass collectible crypto game.
Unlike other fantasy games, players can “get live game moments” from the NBA season, such as Kawhi Leonard Beazer-Beat, Klay Thompson, who earned 37 points in a quarter, Giannis Antetokounmpo being named the 2018–19 MVP.
Embedded in the digital collectibles are real-world data that defines these moments and plays an influential role in a variety of different games.
The NBA Top Shot team is led by Santiago Jaramillo and Caty Tedman. Santiago brings over 10 years of experience building and launching AAA games, most recently as Creative Director for EA Sports’ FIFA. Caty has a vast knowledge of sports from years leading data-driven decisions and strategy at the NFL, NHL and NBA on ESPN.
