Welcome to the series "Hash Rush: Through the Hermeian Galaxy".

In this series, we will explore the Hermeian Galaxy, dive into the history of various characters, races, creatures, consider the mechanics of the game, and much more that will help to know all aspects of the amazing world of Hash Rush.

In this article, the developers of Hash Rush introduce us to the basics of the PvE system, and in particular talk about the Crystal Scourge, let's begin!

Let's take a closer look at what Crystal Scourge is.

No matter what style you play in Hash Rush, the process of mining and accumulating crypto crystals will always be a chore, but in spite of everything, crystals are an incredibly valuable and powerful commodity in the Germaine galaxy.

But there is also something else that you most likely do not know, namely - until the crystals are mined or otherwise removed from the planet, they form a worldwide "mind hive" known as the Crystal Virus.

The goal of Crystal Virus is to confront the player whenever possible and he does this through the mutations that he causes in the local fauna and flora, turning the plants and animals of the planet into dangerous creatures, the common name of which is the Crystal Scourge. Moreover, as the player’s power grows, the power of the Crystal Scourge also increases.

Such knowledge allows us to consider the Crystal Virus as the personification of artificial intelligence, opposing the player.
Just like a player who is constantly expanding his base, builds new buildings and trains new units, so the Crystal Virus has the ability to expand through such mechanisms.

How does it work?

As noted earlier, the power of the Crystal Scourge grows in proportion to the player’s power and is divided into 6 scenarios:

  1. Fog.
  2. Single Attackers.
  3. Waves Attacking.
  4. Crystal Zastava.
  5. Crystal Base.
  6. Crystal Boss.

The first stage of resistance to the player is fog, it is activated from the very beginning of the game. The rest of the phases are activated when the player makes some progress.
It is important to note here that each subsequent resistance scenario includes all previous ones.

An important feature of mechanics is that, with the exception of fog, all other scenarios are not constant and are disabled when certain goals are reached after their launch.

For example, if a player activates the third scenario (Waves of Attacking) by his actions and is not able to defend against them, then after losing a certain number of units and buildings, the waves of the attacking creatures will retreat, and the power of the Crystal Scourge will drop to two or even one, depending on forces remaining at the player.

1 script: Fog

Upon arrival on their planet, players will immediately notice that most of the surface is covered with thick fog. This is the first stage of protection from the player.

Crystal Fog

Crystal Fog is similar in its mechanics to many of the usual fog of war used in many RTS (real-time strategy) games, but Hash Rush has a number of additional abilities.

While moving through territories with fog, the player's units accumulate fear, and as soon as the fear indicator reaches 100%, they acquire the status of “frightened”. This means that no matter what their mission is or where they were heading, the units will turn around and take the shortest path to the nearest building, the player will lose control over them until the fear indicator returns to 0%.

For confronting fog in areas remote from the base, such structures as the Lamppost and Watchtower are available to the player. These buildings illuminate the nearest land from the fog in a certain radius.

In addition to the mechanics of fear: buildings that were built or fell under the influence of fog are subject to greater wear.

For example: a player dispelled the fog by building a lamppost, then built a mine for the extraction of crystals. Then the monster destroyed the Lamppost and the mine plunged into the fog.
Such a mine will have problems.

2 Scenario: Single Attackers

This is the second stage of the Crystal Defense. Its launch occurs at the moment when the virus (AI) starts to consider the player dangerous for himself (the calculations necessary for AI to assess the threat are made constantly and the player is not shown).

At the moment the scenario starts, the Crystal Virus will start creating single units, which will be equal in strength or superior to the player's units. Further, the virus will give one of 2 possible tasks to its monsters: hunt the player's units (hunt AI); destroy player buildings (wreck AI).

3 Scenario: Attack Waves

The third stage of the Crystal Defense is the immediate evolution of the second stage.

Now the player must watch not only for single monsters, but also for groups of monsters. Hostile monsters will attack solo and in groups, there will be no other changes, the objectives of the attack will remain the same: player or structure units.

4 Scenario: Crystal Works

Outposts are structures that can be found in all corners of the planet, with the exception of the players' starting location. They serve as the place where the monsters of the previous two scenarios appear.

In fact, Crystal Outlays are dungeons. These dungeons players can clear monsters, which in turn gives the player the opportunity to protect themselves in the future from the threat of attack.

There are several rules of the game during the fourth stage:

  • A player cannot proceed to sweep dungeons until the 4 stage has come or is not passed;
  • the player cannot proceed to the sweep of the dungeons until all the monsters in the area are defeated;
  • the outpost is invulnerable until the dungeon boss is defeated;
  • as soon as the boss is defeated, the player can neutralize the outpost;
  • The player must keep the area around the outposts lit, if this rule is not observed or if the buildings that give light are destroyed, Crystal Outposts again begin to create monsters. In this case, the player will have to start clearing outposts by a new one.

5 Script: Crystal Bases

The fifth stage opens the eyes of the players to the main Crystal Base. By its logic and functionality, the base is very similar to an outpost. However, there are some differences. There can only be one Crystal Base on each planet. The base is also a dungeon, the final boss of which is the Crystal Titan. Titan is the final boss of the planet. Moreover, in addition to the garrison of monsters protecting the titan, defensive structures are located around the base.

Script Rules:

  • the base is located on the planet opposite to the player’s starting point;
  • the base is the place of appearance of monsters from all previous stages;
  • the player cannot enter the basement dungeon until his script is reached;
  • defenders of the base and buildings around are always higher in level than the player;
  • access to the dungeon will open only after all the crystal spawn are killed;
  • when titanium is defeated, the planet will no longer generate crypto crystals in the mines and players will need to move to the next planet.

6 Script: Crystal Titan

The final stage of Crystal Defense. It begins only if the player has not cleared the Crystal Base before the conditions for activation of this stage have been reached.

At the time of the start of this stage, Crystal Titan located in the basement basement will appear on the surface of the planet. His goal is always the nearest building or player unit.

If the player cannot defeat the titan earlier than all his constructions are destroyed, then the titan will return back to the base, and the player will begin his journey in a new way from the first stage.

The Temple of the Traveler cannot be destroyed, and Ernakov training is free, so the player can always easily start anew.

As in the last rule of the base scenario, if the player destroys the titanium, the planet will stop generating crypto crystals in the mines.
