If we go back to December 2021, we will remember how in farsite a pre-alpha was released, allowing players (owners) of sectors to produce resources. Then, a few months later, player flights between systems were added, as well as cargo transport, factories, expanded resource production, and an in-game market. Now farsite is gearing up for an official alpha launch next month on June 21, 2022.
Players who have blueprints, resources and factories will be able to create ships and modules for them. This should provide demand for resources that need to be delivered to the home station for sale. While there is only one market, at Homestead Station, future plans include additional player-built stations, each with their own local market. Creation of a network of trade routes and arbitrage opportunities for traveling merchants.
For those who do not have their own sector, in alpha there will be an opportunity to search the systems in search of asteroids and comets. After finding valuable resources there and collecting them, the player will need to pack them into a cargo storage to sell resources at the station.
Flying through the FTL Gate is no longer free. Pilots will be forced to pay commission in credits in order to fly. For the convenience of players moving through several star systems, a FTL route planner will be added to the game, allowing players to set the flight path in advance. As for the vault, it's no longer infinite, which should force players to make the right decisions about transporting the right cargo, accumulating resources, and calculating how much the vault can hold. Thus, the complexity of the game increases, this was taken into account by the team farsite, which plans to add tutorials to the game, is better known as pilot academy to help new players get a better understanding of the game at the start. Future updates will include contracts, new player-owned stations, new systems and planets.
