WEBSITES WILL TRANSITION TO THE METAUNIVERSE IN THIS DECADE

Last update:

In early June, the AWE conference, which was held in downtown Santa Clara in California, was dedicated to "dreams" and augmented reality. John Riccitello, CEO of Unity, took the floor to talk about VR and how he sees the future of websites, stating that 2D websites will become part of the metaverse and will be closely connected. According to John, there will be three types of websites:

  • Sites that will be fully embedded in the metaverse and will serve as places where users will hang out.
  • Real places where users could experience additional experiences using VR technologies.
  • Sites that will be a small addition on top of existing ones for a certain benefit.

John Riccitello emphasized that in order to use all three types of web solutions, it will be necessary to have special equipment, which must be adapted to PCs and smartphones. At the same time, interaction with websites will occur in real time. That is, it should work in such a way that the structure of the site space changes depending on the actions of the user.

The CEO of Unity emphasized that in the future there will be a great need for engine vendors that can properly adapt hardware for real-time interactions. At the moment, more than 50% of such tools are supplied by his company. Previously, the former CEO of the American division of Nintendo, Reggie Fils-Aime, said that the metaverses are the future of the gaming industry, and all developers need to focus on them.
