Developers farsite announced that an update will be released on January 27 that will allow players to move around the world faster than the speed of light. Gates will be added to the game. The gate is the entry point to the FTL-path (FTL - Faster Than Light, faster than the speed of light), which allows you to instantly move between the stars. These paths can be seen on the star map.
Using this mode requires fuel, which can be purchased with credits at the station. Each star can be connected to several neighboring ones in this way, so that next to each star there can be several such paths and, accordingly, gates. In this way, you can link stars even from different constellations.
Gates are controlled by local rulers and may have restrictions on ship types and levels, as well as additional fees. The player cannot be attacked while moving on FTL paths, but if your route is long enough and you need to use several such paths in the process, then you can be attacked while moving between FTL paths.
The movement is actually not entirely instantaneous. It can take up to a minute, depending on how much data needs to be loaded for the new location.
Resource Handling
Along with the gate, a resource processing mechanism will become available to travelers. This mechanic will become an important part of the Farsite economy. Mined ore requires processing for later use. Processing is done in cycles. Each cycle requires 10 ore, credits and some time. The amount of required resources may vary depending on the type of ore.
At the end of the cycle, the player receives resources, according to the scheme by which the processing was carried out. Different resources may have different processing scheme. Here, for example, is a scheme for processing paraffin.
As you can see, the player processes paraffin (Poo1), as a result of which he receives 1 main resource (paraffin - Pam38) and 2 third-party resources (regular carbon dioxide - RmCO2 and planetary dust - PDm1).
About the game
Farsite - MMORTS sandbox in a sci-fi setting. Players can explore the world using spaceships, build their own bases and mine resources, from which they can subsequently create modules, equipment and new ships. All items in the game are NFT tokens and will be traded on the in-game exchange.
The project uses distributed ledger technology. At the first level is the Ethereum blockchain, the second layer is Polygon, the third is ZK Relay. At the moment, the game is still in development, and the pre-alpha is already in the immediate plans of the team.
