1.Netflix and Kickstarter launch a joint NFT project

Streaming giant Netflix and crowdfunding platform Kickstarter are launching the Pplpleasr Shibuya video service, which will give NFT holders the ability to influence the plot of films.

The Shibuya video service is named after the Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo and is based on the Ethereum blockchain technology using the Web3 Internet concept, the creators of the project explain.

“Shibuya is an Ethereum blockchain-based direct community video platform that raises funds for the production of new films and web series, gives sponsors the right to voice their opinion on the direction of the story, and the right to become content owners.”

According to the developers, the content created on the platform can be watched absolutely free of charge. Monetization is planned for ownership and participation in the creative process. The developers announced the launch of the beta version of the project in their telegram channel.

2. MoonPow Paid for NFT World of Women for $754

Payments company MoonPay has emerged as a top contender for possession of a non-fungible token (NFT) at Christie's, acting on behalf of a mystery shopper.

The startup spent £567 or $000 on a rare item from the World of Women (WoW) collection at Christie's London Evening Sale.

The price paid by MoonPay makes #5672 one of the most expensive WoW items ever sold.

The token possesses rare traits such as the skin tone of the Goddess of the Night and a tuxedo. It was sold among the lots of such world famous artists as Keith Haring, Pablo Picasso and David Hockney.

Moonpay provides an infrastructure that allows web developers and mobile developers to provide their users with the purchase of virtual currency using credit cards.

Late last year, the crypto project also launched a concierge service, described as “a white-glove service for wealthy individuals who want to purchase NFTs in the easiest way possible without all the hassle of setting up a wallet, buying cryptocurrencies, exchanging it for NFTs, and then holding the token.” .

MoonPay buys NFTs and then bills its customers for them and other services rendered. It is not yet clear on whose behalf MoonPay purchased the WoW item.

British auction house Christie's conducts NFT sales and accepts payment in Ether or Bitcoin, but only through firms approved by the UK Financial Conduct Authority.

3. Texan demands $1 million from OpenSea because his monkey was stolen.

A Texas man inadvertently “sold” one of his #NFT monkeys to Board Paper (#BACK) and has now decided to sue the #OpenSea platform. According to him, the management of the site knew about the flaw, which allowed hackers to sell NFT from their wallet for crumbs from the “market price”.

Timothy McKimmy stated in court documents that he did not put Bored Ape #3475 up for sale, but the hackers did it for him, after which they put the monkey up for 0,01 ETH ($26). After that, they again put the lot up for sale and received 99 ETH (about 250 thousand dollars) from this.

Timothy also claims that OpenSea deliberately did not patch the security hole, despite all the reports of similar cases of NFT theft. More than $1,8 million worth of NFTs have been stolen from several site users in the past.

4 Gabe Vs Crypto Games On Steam

Valve President Gabe Newell sees no benefit in using blockchain technology in games. Moreover, in his opinion, the price volatility of cryptocurrencies and NFTs is not only exaggerated, but also harms users.

Newell stated that the distributed ledger technology that underpins cryptocurrency is not in itself a bad thing. In his opinion, the concept of digital product ownership and public universes makes sense, but the main problem with cryptocurrencies and NFTs is the people who use the technology at the heart of these things.

According to the head of Valve, people are prone to various criminal activities. He said that almost half of the transactions using NFT and cryptocurrency on Steam were related to money laundering from dubious sources or fraud - this was one of the reasons for blocking such projects on the platform. Newell noted that people who trade NFTs are also among those who do not want to do business with. In his opinion, the desire of some sellers to deceive buyers for the sake of profit is one of the reasons for the negative perception of NFTs.

Newell also speculated about another reason for the ban on blockchain games on Steam - the volatility of the cost of goods. As the head of Valve noted, paying with cryptocurrency created unreasonable price fluctuations, which were extremely negatively perceived by users. After that, the company decided to move away from NFTs and cryptocurrencies on Steam in order to create a more comfortable environment for people.
