dGoods towards standardizing gaming assets

dGoods Standart

Mythical Games announced a new initiative for the industry as a whole, which will help to formalize the fast-growing global market for digital assets between creators, consumers and studios.

The dGoods standard (short for Distributed / Digital Goods) was developed as a step to a commercially approved benchmark for creating, managing, and distributing digital products. It will be available as an open source software license for developers at https://dgoods.org.

These efforts are the result of a collaboration led by Mythical Games, EOS Lynx, Scatter and other key blockchain companies that recognized the need for a reliable standard of digital products for the developer community.

Some of the key features that developers can expect from the upcoming dGoods standard will be described below.

Metadata templates for 3D and 2D objects
Part of the dGoods standard includes certain metadata templates depending on the type of digital product you are working with.
If a token is intended for a game, coupon, ticket, music file, artwork, etc., then standard templates can be created so that wallets can process and display relevant information, images, and even three-dimensional objects.

Certificate of Authenticity
As with real-world physical objects, digital objects require a certificate of authenticity.
DGoods has the ability to have immutable fields describing the attributes of an object, which constitute a certificate of authenticity, as well as a graphical representation for displaying evidence of the subject's attributes, including its brand, originator or rarity, to consumers.

Combining tokens from different categories in one token contract
Most standards include one token with one contract. If the developer wants to release different types of tokens, this must be done through several contracts. This not only increases the complexity, but also the cost.

To solve this problem, the dGoods standard has one token character per contract, but allows you to create many sub-tokens. These sub-tokens can be assigned a category, a token name and tags, so that wallets and applications can order and filter tokens.

Exchangeable and non-replaceable tokens in the same contract
Other standards support only replaceable or non-replaceable tokens (NFT). However, many dApps and games require support for both types of tokens.

The dGoods standard has the advantage of defining sub-tokens within a single contract, which gives the developer the freedom to make some of them fungible and others not.

Open source
The dGoods standard is initially an open and free standard for the EOS developer community, but it is also open to other blockchains.

The goal of dGoods is to maintain and promote the industry standard, as blockchain technology continues to grow in games, entertainment, and beyond.

Fred Kruger, Workcoin CEO (EOS Lynx), added: “EOS Lynx is proud and intrigued by collaborating with Mythical Games, Scatter and the EOS community to help create the first wallet standard for digital products.

This is a turning point for blockchain games, as well as applications for the sale of coupons and tickets. This will change our understanding of cryptocurrency ".

Headquartered in Los Angeles, Mythical Games is a next-generation gaming technology studio that specializes in creating a digital ecosystem around a player-owned economy.

The team is looking for technical and creative innovations to make players, creators, brands and studios even closer together in customizable gaming entertainment.

Mythical Games recently announced the release of a new game, the "Blankos Block Party", an MMO game that will be released in several formats later this year.
