Got a game ?!

Last update:

Over the past week it became known immediately about two suspensions of the development of cryptogames. 17 on April was reported by the Decenter (Cryptage Origins) team on its blog and 22 on April by the Ether Dale team (Glitch Goons).

If the first reported that this is a temporary suspension, then with the second everything is already clear. The Glitch Goons project from 29 April will no longer be supported by developers. Below is a message from their official social media accounts:

How did this happen?

Back in August last year, our team tested Cryptage Origins and we had our own subjective opinion about the project and we did not continue to participate in the tests.

You can read the official comments from the Decenter team (Cryptage Origins) here: https://blog.decenter.com/2019/04/17/cryptage-origins-status-2019.

If you briefly retell, they believed that DApps users would be much more at this time than they are now; they were crippled by a bear market, and in addition to this, problems with balance began to manifest themselves over time, due to which the players' interest began to disappear.

We believe that projects such as Glitch Goons, Cryptage Origins, Wizards.one have paid too little attention to the possibility of earning players. In some projects, the principle was not laid down. It was this thing that united these projects.

The ability to own items in combination with the ability to earn cryptocurrency is the main USP of cryptogaming. It is trading in digital assets. This is all that gives completely different emotions and a unique user experience, incomparable with the experience of traditional gaming, where everything is often based on donations (donates). In the absence of decent graphics and interesting game mechanics, it is precisely the possession of their digital goods and the opportunity to make money is what attracts players. That magic and the enthusiasm that you feel when you realize that you are selling digital goods that you received during the time spent in the game and all this with the use of the blockchain. You feel in touch with the future. No conclusions and expectations. You just take and trade with another person. It’s as if you are transferring values from hand to hand while securing the blockchain. Or take those emotions when you get a reward from the game for completing the quest, thanks to which you can make yourself a gift! This is not near with what you get in traditional gaming. It is these emotions that developers need to learn to monetize. Otherwise, why play a game with the worst graphics, with the worst gameplay and donate more money to it when there are much more interesting projects in traditional gaming, where there are much more players without this blockchain?

I believe that the very concept of donation has no place in cryptogaming! This paradigm should shift towards trade in digital goods and / or services. How to implement this with the benefit of developers is another question and a headache for game diz on monetization.

No one talks about guaranteed income to every gamer. Someone will definitely have losses, because someone has bought too expensive, having badly estimated the value of the item, or someone just does not have enough skill in this game to beat their rivals.

If we speak from a commercial point of view, the first thing to understand for successful sales is the client's need. If you do not know the need or simply ignore it, then it is unlikely that you will be able to raise a lot of money.

What can developers earn, in our opinion, while offering opportunities for their players to earn money?

  • In-game fees
  • Skins
  • Scenery
  • Buffs / upgrades
  • Advertising (which can be disabled)
  • Subscription
  • and much others

What opportunities can be provided for earnings cryptoheaters?

  • Trade in objects
  • PvP Reward
  • PvE reward
  • Daily / Weekly Contests
  • Archievements
  • Referrals
  • Content Creation
  • Rent

The main thing is not to turn the game into pay-to-win and keep the balance. (easy to say)

What conclusion do we do for ourselves?

You need to look for other schemes to monetize your project and be sure to consider the needs of the market. Do not forget the gameplay. Work with the community and feedback, while doing the necessary updates. Give the players what they want and make a profit from it, and not impose their own.

Multiverse, possession of items, livelihood - this is a new experience that enhances the experience. Cryptogaming is like a cocktail of poker, casino and games. Crypto games have much more to offer than regular games. Gamedev can be called selling emotions and you need to learn how to sell new experiences in order to be competitive compared to traditional gaming. And sometimes you look at some crypto game and see neither new experience nor graphics, but just an ordinary game using the blockchain for some reason. And it is obvious that such a game will not reach our audience. We need new approaches to game design, we need experiments, and this is where blockchain can help.

Look for good gamediz, gentlemen!

We very much hope that the correct conclusions will be made.
